I have always been a fan of the Ventoux appellation, which until recently has been under-rated. And I have always been a fan of wines from the Perrin Family--from Beaucastel down to La Vieille Ferme. The latter is now sourced from grapes outside the Ventoux appellation, and this Ventoux Rouge has replaced it.
Beautiful bright crimson. Fresh fruit smells and flavors but by no means simple. Grenache berry and peppery spice. Everything I love in Ventoux wine. Full bodied but beautifully balanced. It is a perfect match for pasta and pizza, but I would not be embarrassed to serve it at a dinner party.
