Domaine des Baumard Clos du Papillon, 1985

Baumard's Clos du Papillon is a special treat, and this 1985 confirms that Savenniere wines from the :Loire are virtually ageless.

Deeper gold than the 2008, of course, but doesn't appear oxidized or old. The honeyed bouquet is almost overwhelming, and it entices me back for sniff after sniff. Deep, complex flavors that are hard to describe because they are constantly evolving and offering fresh nuances. Fruit, acid, tannin in perfect balance. A great wine.
