Giacoma Brezza & Figli Barbera d'Alba Superiore, 2012

Brezza's vineyards are located very near the village of Barolo. And even the Barbera vineyards are located on soil that produces excellent Barolos wines. The wine is aged for a year in Slavonian oak.

Ruby red but with some amber notes creeping in from the rim. Looks more mature than the bottle I had on June 1 of last year. Flavors are also a bit more mature than I remember, perhaps due to some bottle variation. Dark cherry, leather and spice. Medium light body and elegant mouthfeel. Barbera acidity keeps the flavors intense. Medium long, complex finish.
